Corinna Bellizzi, Head of Sales and Marketing at Orlo Nutrition

Nominated by: Walter Crosby

Corinna Bellizzi, MBA, is a natural products industry executive and omega-3 expert who pioneered the growth of Nordic Naturals from less than $1 million to over $100 million in annual sales. Given her concern for the future health of people and the planet, she shifted her focus from fish-sourced omegas to algae in 2016. An activist at heart, she launched her podcast, Care More Be Better, in 2021 to cover social and ecological issues that affect us all. She has been featured in Forbes, Morning Honey, New Food, AGEIST, Sustainability, and VEGWORLD magazines.

Corinna leads Örlö Nutrition, a new algae brand that features the world’s first carbon-negative omega-3s. Örlö Nutrition cultivates industry-leading algae omegas in Iceland’s pristine waters, using a controlled environment optimized with artificial intelligence and circular economic principles. She’s also hosting a new podcast to support the effort—the Nutrition Without Compromise podcast—which covers health topics without compromising your ethics or the health of our home planet.

Connect with Corinna on LinkedIn, Twitter, Youtube, Instagram, or through her website.

Corinna’s Insights

Over the last decade, more and more of our communication strategies have shifted to automated digital media, which means that a personal touch stands out so much more than it once did. I personally feel honored when I am given a phone number to reach someone or their cell phone number to be able to text. It makes me feel as though I have come into the fold of a preferred contact for the individual I’m collaborating with. It communicates friendship.

My point in mentioning this is simple. Now, perhaps more than ever, showing people you are accessible to them, that you care about them, and that they aren’t just a number to you is even more important than it was-before zoom meetings overtook our lives. Having a zoom meeting (with cameras on) is supposed to have somehow erased the fact that connecting in person has become more difficult, and it has done a really poor job. People can’t make eye contact because they don’t know where to look. They might be having a bad day and not feel “camera ready.” So remember the simple solution that is still at your grasp — a phone call. And if you’re feeling ambitious, a thoughtful card sent in the mail that reinforces your connection.

In short, there is power in authentic connection, and working to establish one is critically important if you wish to succeed in sales. Taking your relationship off social platforms is a must if you are to truly succeed in being a remembered, trusted ally and collaborator. You have to work at it, but it is worth it!
