* My favorite LinkedIn notification is ‘New Job’. Typically this means we have two new opportunities to start conversations. First, offering insights and value for your connection in their new role, and second, identifying who filled the old role and reach out to them. Often professionals in new roles are open to fresh ideas, so if you are a great resource and you bring significant value. Your connections will be excited to take your call.
* When replying to notifications on LinkedIn, don’t use the LinkedIn templated “Thanks” or “Happy Birthday”. Your connections will get many of those, you want to stand out and differentiate yourself. Go above and beyond by just adding some personalization and tailoring your message a little, you’ll stand out from the crowd, and more importantly, you’ll make the other person feel good!
* One of the best LinkedIn notifications is “Who’s Viewed Your Profile”. It’s great, because it’s easier to start conversations with the people who looked at you! Use it to start conversations for your 1st-degree connections who have viewed your profile. It’s also a good reason to reach out to those 2nd-degrees who looked at you to connect.
