The Social Sales Link team talked about the 5 LinkedIn Mistakes that are Costing Sales People Business and Reputation.

Things you will learn in this episode:

* One of the biggest mistakes social sellers make is to “Connect and Forget”. They collect hundreds, if not, thousands of connections, yet they rarely take the time to start a conversation. Sales professionals need to take inventory of their connections, identify key people they’ve been ignoring, and engage.

* When salespeople “Connect and Pitch”, no matter how valuable their offer is, no matter how much money it costs, they reduce their offer to a commodity. We need to slow down our outreach, to speed up our outcome. In these days when trust is at an all-time low, we need to build both relationships and credibility. We are unable to do that if we only connect and pitch.

* Most people on LinkedIn have their profiles set up as their resumes. As a salesperson, you have to build your profile, so that it teaches them about what you do, and gets them thinking differently about the services or products you provide. Your goal is to have them engage with you based on your profile, as well as any content you might publish. Always remember that when you’re on LinkedIn, you’re not a job searcher, you are a social seller.
