Keenan - Influencer of the Week

Keenan, Best-Selling Author and CEO at A Sales Guy Inc.

Keenan is A Sales Guy Inc’s CEO/President and Chief Antagonist. He’s been selling something to someone for his entire life. He’s been teaching and coaching almost as long. With over 20 years of sales experience, which he’ll tell you he doesn’t give a shit about, Keenan has been influencing, learning from and shaping the world of sales for a long time. Finder of the elephant in the room, Keenan calls it as he sees it and lets nothing or no one go unnoticed.

Keenan’s passion for problem-solving reaches well beyond the sales and business world. He is the celebrated author of Not Taught: What It Takes to be Successful in the 21st Century That Nobody’s Teaching You. The 21st Century has ushered in the information age, and with it a new set of rules for success. Not Taught shares how the rules of the industrial age no longer work and that if you want to be successful, you must learn the new rules for success. Father of 3 crazy girls, PSIA Certified Level 2 ski instructor (see, more coaching) and avid Boston Sports fan, Keenan keeps crazy busy when he’s not focused on A Sales Guy.

Keenan’s Insights

Keenan - CTT

There isn’t just one “tip” for social sales. Too many people think social selling is a tactic. It’s not. It’s a strategy and like most strategies, it’s nuanced. The most important elements to being a badass social seller are authenticity, education, and entertainment, wrapped up in frequency.

What do I mean? First and foremost, you must show up on social as your authentic self. Don’t have a “business” face and a “personal” face. Just be you. Comment, post, engage and interact as YOU! Not some made-up personality. Next, educate. Create content that educates. Education is a giving action, so the more you give, the better off you’ll be. People are takers, so “giving” will draw people to you. Pick topics that will help people get better in the areas you’re an expert AND help people learn things they didn’t already know. Third, is to be entertaining. Be light, funny, intriguing, tell good stories etc. Remember social sales is about people and engagement, not selling. Finally, be active. Frequency matters. Create content regularly, engage your audience every day. Social sales is a long game, not a quick fix. Don’t try to sell, try to help. They will then ask you to sell them.
